As the Florida primaries draw nearer, Rep. Ron Paul remains one of the most enigmatic figures of the upcoming presidential race.
Paul supporters tell the success story of a humble Constitutionalist OB-GYN who has out-fundraised top-tier candidates in a "revolution" set to return the government back to its people.
Skeptics of Paul point out that his policies are not only out of touch with the mainstream but implausible in today's world climate, and even accuse him of being a racist conspiracy theorist.
Ron Paul is not a savior. However, an objective look at his stances will show that he is a sensible politician whose policies can appeal to a majority of voters.
First off, Paul is not a racist. This allegation largely stems from newsletters attributed to Paul's name published over a decade ago which contained negative comments about blacks. Paul has repeatedly stated that he did not write the comments, and when asked by Wolf Blitzer on CNN if he repudiates the newsletter's remarks, he stated that he did not. In fact, the Austin president of the NAACP has decidedly supported Paul on this issue.
During the Jan. 10 GOP debates on Fox News, Paul urged that America use restraint and reason when dealing with Iran, stating that we must not let our guard down against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Meanwhile, Iowa caucus-winner Mike Huckabee warned that if Iran ever "put their sights on an American vessel," the next thing they will see will be the "gates of hell" in response to an isolated incident with an Iranian vessel.
Paul, on the other hand, simply pleaded for restraint and demanded that we not look for reasons to launch a new war.
Mediator Brit Hume proceeded to ignore the warmongering of Paul's opponents and attempted to rip into his answer.
He insisted that Paul's opponents had just advocated a passive response to Iran, when in reality, Fred Thompson had just stated that the offensive Iranians would be "introduced to the virgins they've been looking forward to seeing" if they had taken "one more step."
The desecration of Paul's cautionary stance comes despite the fact that pre-emptive war with Iran is an unpopular idea nationwide, especially since the release of the most recent National Intelligence Estimate, which suggests that the country's nuclear program has been halted.
Paul would have a profound effect on domestic policy.
His plans center on constitutionality and states rights, such as eliminating the federal Department of Education and nullifying federal drug laws, The U.S. would save countless amounts of money and end Washington's inefficient control of these institutions.
Of course, many of Paul's policies would have a difficult time passing through Congress, but it seems that the buzzword for this year's elections is "change."
A Ron Paul nomination would be a mandate from the people for a new course, and would symbolically do more to spur the change of conventional politics in America than the election to office of any candidate who uses "change" as their platform.

let it go
By T. D. Jakes
There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The Bible said that, They came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]
People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead.
You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.
And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. LET THEM GO!!!
If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to ... LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ... LET IT GO!!!
If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth ... LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you ... LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge ... LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction ... LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents ... LET IT GO!!!
If you have a bad attitude ... LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better ... LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him ... LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship ... LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves ...LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed ...LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it,"then you need to ...LET IT GO!!!
Let the past be the past. Forget the former things.
GOD is doing a new thing for 2008!!! LET IT GO!!!
Get Right or Get Left think about it, and then ... LET IT GO!!!

helloooo 2008!
wooo! my first blog of the new year! :)
well to catch everyone up... its been pretty interesting so far. I started school again... the schedule is hectic but I got my journalism bug back! :) I'm so excited.. a friend of mine from high school is working at a small local tv station in Homestead, and he told me that they really need reporters, regardless of experience. I e-mailed the studio manager and he said he would like me to come in for an interview! yay! :D I've been praying about it and I'm continuing to pray that God will show me where to go. :)
Anywho, in other news, I had quite an eventful weekend! On Friday Gabriel's brother Danny celebrated his 24th birthday at Studio A's eighties night. It was sooo fun! I went with Paula, Merari, Jannell & Jenny and we had a blast! :D It was great to hang out with the girls outside of church/small group and have a good time with them. I needed it! On Saturday was Danny's REAL birthday, so Paula came with me to celebrate at their house. I hadn't eaten all day, and only had about 4 hours of sleep the night before, so I felt terrible and had to go home early :( Apparently lack of sleep/food does not go well with my body! lol.
Anyway, I'm so excited cause this Saturday is my appointment with Miss Merari, Noted Fashion Photographer! ;) Me & Gabe are her muses to help her tune her photography skills! As if she needs to tune them at all.. psshh. I have so many cute ideas and I'm just soooo excited to see how the pictures will come out! :)
Here are some pictures from Studio A on Friday night! :)

Another year has gone by...
I can't believe that this is the last blog I shall be writing in 2007!! :)
It's kind of amazing how fast this year has gone by... and how much I have changed and grown in the process. I think at these times, people think about what they have learned this year and what they can expect in the year to come. It's crazy to think that your life can change so much in just 365 days...
God has taught me sooo many things this year. He has taught me who I can really depend on, and He has shown me how great things can be if you just put your faith in Him.
So, here's to a happy, healthy New Year for everyone! May God bless your life this year as he has continued to bless mine!!! :)

inspiration!
I love visiting my cousins.
Random, I know. :) But I really do! We (myself, Gabriel, my mom, brother and his girlfriend) went to my cousin's house in Pinecrest for Christmas Day, and I remembered what I want out of my life. They have a good life... ok they're better off than most people. But its a good life!!!! :)
Her two kids are 5 and 7, and they remind me soooo much of my brother and me at that age! Santa was extremely generous this Christmas and brought them a Wii.... and needless to say, the adults were more into it than the kids. ha! ;) It's just really cool to see these kids grow and learn, and it was so weird because her son was telling me about his mom... and I had to remember he was talking about my cousin for a minute! It's so cool to see a family grow in such a beautiful way.
Even better, I think, is seeing a Christian family grow like that. They are there for each other.. my aunt, my cousins, the kids- they're all there for each other, whenever they need it. My cousin is still very much in love with her husband, who she's been with for about 15 years now... that was so inspiring! :) I started thinking of my future with Gabriel, and knowing that we would still be as in love as we are now, 15 years down the road. And we'd have the kids and the big family and everything to make it better! :)
Ahhh.. refreshing and inspiring!
In other news... I watched "P.S. I Love You" today.
Oh. My. Goodness.
What a SAD movie!!!!!
If you are depressed, I strongly recommend you go see this! Especially if you want to kill yourself!!!
Ok. Not if you're suicidal. That's not cool. But its pretty much THAT depressing. :(
Don't get me wrong.. it was romantic.. but I don't know how I would possibly deal with a loss like that!!! And writing letters to me from the grave?!?! I'll pass, thanks.
It just makes you grateful for all that you have in your life at this moment. And I am one of the most grateful of them all... I have the things I need, the best friends I could possibly ask for, a boyfriend who loves me, and best of all, a God who provides! :)
What could top that?

and now, the wait..
I'm so anxious to find out my grades for this semester!!
I have a 2.6 cumulative GPA so far... I just need a 3.0 to be considered for UF!! I'm so nervous... I think since today is commencement at FIU, I'm imagining myself at commencement at UF :D
The future is scary.. especially when you don't know what's in store for you! I'm like checking out housing info and student involvement.. even sororities lol! I think I worked as hard as I could this semester, and the one thing that got me through finals was UF. I had that in my mind pushing me forward, reminding me exactly WHY i need that B in math! I really gave it my all this semester. Even through everything that was going on in my life, I knew that school came first, because if not, I wasn't going to UF.
And that, of course, is not an option.
I'm so determined to make it there... just to show everyone (and, most importantly, myself) that I could do it. I felt comfortable with my exams but you never know... I'm thinking positive thoughts and I'm envisioning myself at that commencement 2 years from now... :)
Pray for me through this week and next, people! The moment of truth is upon me! :)
